Job Overview

As a Microsoft 365 Exchange Administrator, you will be responsible for the seamless operation and security of Exchange Online and On-Premises Exchange systems in a hybrid environment. This includes mailbox management, email compliance, integration with Proofpoint, SPAM/phishing mitigation, and supporting Microsoft 365 applications like Teams and OneDrive.


Key Responsibilities

Exchange Online Administration

  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Exchange Online (mailboxes, transport rules, distribution groups)

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and licenses

  • Implement and manage retention and archiving policies

  • Troubleshoot and document messaging issues

  • Design future-state Exchange environments

  • Collaborate globally on mailbox retention between user and shared mailboxes

On-Premises Exchange Administration

  • Maintain Exchange servers (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019) in hybrid environments

  • Support seamless communication between cloud and on-premises mailboxes

Security & Compliance

  • Integrate Proofpoint for email security, threat detection, and data loss prevention

  • Handle SPAM, phishing, and malicious email detection and mitigation

  • Manage compliance tools: eDiscovery, DLP, ATP, OCAS

  • Manage OneDrive access controls and PST archival

Microsoft 365 & Teams Support

  • Configure Azure AD Connect for directory sync

  • Administer Teams apps and access

  • Manage licenses for user, admin, and service accounts


Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years in technical support, consulting, or IT experience
    OR
    Bachelor’s in Computer Science/IT + 1 year experience

  • Over 5 years’ experience with Exchange/Outlook support

  • Deep understanding of Exchange architecture and troubleshooting

  • Experience with:

    • Exchange 2010, 2013, 2016

    • Windows Server 2012/2016

    • Exchange Online and On-Premise migrations

    • Exchange Disaster Recovery scenarios

    • Outlook 2010–2016, Office 365

    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Networking (TCP/IP, HTTP)

    • Outlook for iOS, Android, and Mac

Technical Proficiency

  • PowerShell, PnP Shell

  • Exchange Transport and Client Access troubleshooting

  • Device sync troubleshooting

Language

  • Proficient in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
