The DevOps team is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and implementation of the MileagePlus programs and related partnership development and marketing.

Responsibilities

As an Associate Engineer (Engineer I), you will play a supportive role in creating and maintaining software solutions that support United Airlines' Pilot Records business requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

Developing, designing, creating, and modifying software applications/systems based on specifications.
Gaining a basic understanding of requirements analysis.
Providing limited support to the software development leads (Senior Engineers) during the design phase of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Supporting and troubleshooting software systems as needed, optimizing performance, resolving issues, and following up on all issues and solutions.
Performing thorough unit testing on developed/enhanced software.
Managing a limited number of tasks as part of a project team.
Demonstrating knowledge of SDLC processes, inputs/outputs, standards, and best practices.
Demonstrating knowledge of development techniques, software, and design patterns, as well as their applicability during coding and testing cycles.
Following computer programming best practices, such as version control, packaging, and release management.
Showing an understanding of development domain areas and specific technologies/tools.

Note: This position is offered under local conditions and conditions. Expat assignments and work visa sponsorship (even for temporary visa status) will not be provided. This role is with United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd – a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
At least 2+ years of relevant experience.
Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MS SQL, DynamoDB).
Solid knowledge of object-oriented design principles and the ability to translate requirements into code using best practices and design patterns.
Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git/GitHub) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven).
Experience in writing quality code and delivering high-quality components or applications on time.
Experience with part and unit testing and following best practices and methodologies.
Proficient in utilizing domain knowledge and technologies for delivering developed or integrated components.
Capable of addressing issues of moderate scope where data analysis requires reviewing multiple factors.
Able to troubleshoot or analyze situations for production support.
Proven ability to meet deadlines with general oversight.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Active participant in requirements gathering and analysis.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Ability to produce technical documentation.
Self-motivated, analytical thinker, and problem-solver.
Ability to work with technology effectively.
Must be legally authorized to work in India without sponsorship.
Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Successful completion of interviews required to meet job qualifications.
Strong and reliable attendance is a fundamental requirement of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
2+ years of experience developing applications on the Java stack.
2+ years of experience developing single-page applications using Angular.
2+ years of experience building RESTful web services using the Spring framework.
